Have bought this product before via VioVet, the product itself is very good and seems to work really well on my very hormonal mare. VioVet's service has always been excellent, easy to order, option to set reminders to order in future and very swift delivery. Can't fault product or service.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Hilton Herbs Valerian Root for Horses, including answers from our team.

Hi what is the dosage? Can this be used indefinitely and will it help calm my pony down? Thank you
The dose is as follows:
Horses:
Liquid: Give 10-20ml daily
Dried: 10-20g daily
At 14.2hh your horse is on the lighter side compared to the average horse so it is advised to start at the lower end of the dose range. It can be used in the long term if needed and anecdotally has calming effects. However you should check with your vet this is safe for your specific horse before using in the long term.

Would this be safe for other animals, such as cats, to go INSIDE a fabric toy? I'm making pet pillows but my cats hate catnip so looking for alternatives.
This product is not intended for use with cats, only dogs and horses. This means I unfortunately cannot advise on it's use in cats. It is just Valerian root though so if you are looking for a Valerian root product then is a good choice. If inside a fabric toy then your cat should not ingest it, but I cannot advise that this product is safe for ingestion in cats as there is no feline doseage.

I currently use another valerian calmer in my very stressy horse but would like to know can this be used on a daily basis? If it can be used long term do you use it for 3 weejs then it need a week break like some others do?
As far as I know this calmer can be used longterm on a daily basis without a diminishing effect so a break is not required. In fact the manufacturers suggest that a lower maintenance dose may be sufficient for horses on the supplement longterm. Of course this will depend on your individual horse but you can try it and see.

Hi please advise if your Valerian Root is 100% pure and if so is it broken or crushed powder form. Thanks
The dried valerian root is 100% pure, cut and dried.
